Jozeph Forakis has presented his new vision in the form of 88m super yacht PEGASUS, constructed using revolutionary 3D printing and designed to be virtually invisible both visually and environmentally.

The CharterWorld team all agree, she is simply stunning and hope to see her built as envisioned by 2030.

“I was inspired to create a yacht as close to the sea and nature as possible, made of clouds floating above the waterline” says Forakis. “I wanted to honor nature by blending into it, becoming virtually invisible.”

The yacht industry, as with so many other industries, is starting to take its environmental impact more seriously. With this in mind the team developed a construction process using robotic 3D printing to create a strong and lightweight hull and superstructure mesh framework. Constructing a yacht in this way uses less energy, materials, time and space plus produces less waste, compared to conventional methods. Additionally, the glass superstructure incorporates transparent solar panels which work with other systems to generate power for the operating and hotel systems. The result is zero emissions.

The superstructure is draped in multi-tiered wing-like glass panels which reflect the surrounding nature and allows light to penetrate through to give glimpses of the 3D printed framework. Once inside the futuristic interior, sustainability is clearly a priority when you see the ‘Tree of Life’ designed as the centrepiece of the hydroponic garden providing fresh food and ensuring clean air.

The features which lend PEGASUS her sustainable credentials also showcase the minimalist design incorporating natural finishes and living greenery.

The owner will be spoilt with an exclusive deck featuring a master suite and a generous private terrace.

The aquarium-style lap pool and windows which open to become balconies create a stunning pool area which when covered functions as a helipad. If that wasn’t enough there is also a beach club with huge jacuzzi, more fold down balconies and plenty of space for guests at the waters edge.

We will leave you with another quote from the designer and with our growing excitement that we see this design become reality one day.

PEGASUS is a bold but achievable vision for the near future of the superyacht industry, where man and machine live in harmony with nature rather than competing or compromising it.”
