In pictures: Resplendent refit for 56-metre Perini Navi luxury sailing yacht CAOZ 14
The 56m Perini Navi luxury sailing yacht CAOZ 14 (ex.SELENE, PARSIFAL IV) has completed a stunning refit, giving this 2007-built vessel a refreshing new appearance to make her a welcoming contemporary home on the water.
The Owner chose Nauta Design, who won the Best Refit category at the World Superyacht Awards 2019 for the Vitters sailing yacht G2, to give the family yacht a sense of ‘harmony, peace and light’ while opening up the space longitudinally and turning the main salon into a full-beam space that offers extensive views of the seascape on both sides.
One of the first tasks was to strip out the dark tones and remove the walls between the separate spaces to create a more bright and welcoming open-plan environment. A crew corridor to port alongside the main salon reduced the amount of light entering the interior, while bulkheads on either side of the stairway created a cramped atmosphere.
Now, the crew corridor has been removed entirely and the stairway has floating treads around a central spine, and transparent surroundings so that light can flow unimpeded. The forward section of the main salon was redesigned to offer a children’s playroom/TV lounge with an extendable table for casual meals or large lunches. The natural light and views are enhanced further by the addition of a Smart Glass panel inserted into the bulkhead between the wheelhouse and the TV lounge section of the salon: The glass can be made opaque for privacy, whereas the transparent setting extends sightlines to the bow and adds another way for the sunshine to penetrate the interior.
One of the simplest ways to increase the sense of light and space onboard was to implement a much paler colour scheme: Light oak, white lacquer and paler flooring are used throughout, and Nauta Design worked with the Owner’s wife for the loose furnishings, such as the carpets by Kashtall and the Eames lounge chair.
Open and closed storage spaces created plenty of nooks for personal items such as art and books, and the versatile layout has furnishings that convert for space or better comfort. One example is the adjustable height table which can be expanded for hobbies and seating larger groups.
To control the interior lighting, the opening and closing of windows blinds and much more, a new domotic system was installed. Nauta design collaborated with Cantalupi to create the lighting system that could be adjusted as desired to be bright and functional or low and ambient: Rope lights follow along with the shelving and kickers, ceiling spotlights are abundant and lighting fixtures from design houses Fontana Arte, Oluce and Artemide further enhance the homely atmosphere within.
Outside, the loose furnishings were removed from the aft cockpit and replaced by high-quality teak sofas and coffee tables, and the new teak ceiling over the dining and lounging area created a much more welcoming space.
The crew areas also received the same level of attention, with the pantry and wheelhouse sporting the new colour scheme. The pantry was made brighter and more functional, and the wheelhouse has a new sofa so that guests and crew can enjoy the changing scenery along the journey.
Although there were Covid-19 restrictions in place at the time of the refitting, all work was completed to the highest standards in just six months by MMC Allestimenti in Genoa.
Sailing yacht CAOZ 14 is ready for new adventures with loved ones in a brighter, more comfortable environment so that her Owner and his family will never want the journey to end.

Motor yacht Y is a Custom Line 106′ model and her exterior styling features a raked bow and dynamic lines flowing unbroken from the foredeck to the stern. Full-height windows ensure that guests can enjoy the scenic anchorages from within the climate-controlled interiors.
More details are expected on motor yacht Y following her delivery and public debut.

Lürssen launches 160-metre luxury mega yacht Project Blue
German shipyard Lürssen has successfully launched the 160m/525ft luxury mega yacht PROJECT BLUE from its facilities in Bremen.
As with all previous builds from the shipyard, details of the amenities and interiors have been kept strictly secret, however, it is believed that Terence Disdale produced both the exterior and interior styling for the mega yacht.
On emerging from the shed, M/Y PROJECT BLUE sported a raked bow, contemporary curves and the typical sturdy build which epitomises Lürssen vessels. There is a large helipad on the foredeck and a smaller one on the sundeck aft. The alfresco living and dining areas span several decks, and a large swim platform attaches to the beach club on the lower deck.
A beam of 22m/72ft and a volume of 15,320 GT create plenty of room onboard for guest accommodation, lounges and other amenities, and fold-down terraces can be seen on the bridge and upper decks.
