Best holiday spots for yacht charters in Turkey

Embrace your seafaring spirit and discover exquisite scenery, ancient ruins and lively culture on a Turkey luxury yacht charter along the Turkish Riviera, also known as the Turquoise Coast. Below is a selection of the best holiday spots for yacht charter in Turkey, providing family-friendly attractions, vibrant shopping opportunities and nightlife, and amazing spots for Scuba diving and other water sports.

Turquoise Coast

Gulets are the traditional sailing yacht of Turkey and are a favourite for wedding charters and other special events, where massive feasts are held on deck in idyllic surrounds. Catamarans and mono-hulled motor yachts are available in a range of sizes to suit your budget and the size of your group, and modern vessels over 30m/98ft often have a Jacuzzi, wet bar and large collection of water toys at your disposal.

Luxury gulet Dea Delmare available for charter

Free to roam wherever you please in this Eastern Mediterranean cruising ground, discover the grottoes, sunken cities and amazing marine life before settling onto a golden sand beach along the aptly named Turquoise Coast.

Bodrum

Not only is there an extensive collection of museums and galleries for modern and antediluvian culture, the hammams are an opportunity to experience the popular spa treatment at its most authentic.

If you want more of a local flavour, take a walk though Tarihi Hahn where the collection of little shops, cafes and bars forms this ancient bazaar. Go bargain hunting for accessories and souvenirs, then relax harbourside or pop back on board your yacht in the adjacent marina to dine and freshen up before a night of entertainment.

Lively nightlife in Bodrum

The curving coastline serves up a choice of bays and coves – some with sandy beaches – for you to anchor and spend the night away from the bustle of the city. Swim, snorkel and Scuba dive with confidence in the clear blue water. More experienced divers have enticing caves, wrecks and reefs to explore at their leisure.

Bodrum is ideally situated close to the Dodecanese Islands, so if you want to cruise west from the Turquoise Coast or come from sampling ouzo and tapas on Kos, then Bodrum is an ideal addition to your itinerary.

Marmaris

On your way from Bodrum to Marmaris, stretch your legs at Cape Deveboynu for a look at the ancient ruins of Knidos and the gorgeous scenery. The bay around here will tempt you in for a swim before you watch the sunset and dine under night skies that sparkle as much as the sea.

Marmaris might have once been a quiet fishing village, but today it is a vibrant tourist destination with bars, clubs and restaurants to entertain after sundown. While the sun is high in the sky, explore the local bazaar and shops, visit the beautiful Marmaris Castle and museum and stroll through the massive Marmaris National Park.

Goceck

A haven for yacht charters, Goceck and the surrounding area to the south offers a winding coastline and various islands for isolated beaches, verdant anchorages and ideal spots for watersports.

Fethiye

It’s all about life on the water around this part of the coast: Whether you’re a seasoned Scuba diver or just learning about the sport, Fethiye has an abundance of sites to tempt you day after day back under the sea. More experienced divers have a choice of wrecks, caverns tunnels and Akfule – also known as Aladdin’s Cavern – to satisfy your underwater wanderlust. The shallows are mesmerising as well, with reefs and a seabed of relics awaiting snorkellers and swimmers alike.

Lycian ruins are carved into the cliffs around this section of the Turkish Riviera, and charter groups interested in history should take some time to walk around the Ancient City of Telmessos and the Amyntas Rock Tombs as well as Fethiye castle and the museums.

Fethiye Marina

Ölüdeniz

Similar to Fethiye, Ölüdeniz is a wonderful place for swimming, snorkelling and Scuba diving with the chance to encounter turtles and dolphins during your stay. In addition to the great beaches and clear blue sea, Ölüdeniz has trails through forest-covered hills, the most impressive being the start of the Lycian Way. This 500km (310 mile) path follows the coast almost all the way to Antalya. It’s possible to do small stretches and have your yacht meet you farther along the coast.

Antalya

One of the most stunning beaches along the Turquoise Coast is to be found the moment you enter Antalya province from the west: Patara Beach. The soft sands stretch for miles and offer a protected section for the loggerhead turtles that visit to lay eggs. A short walk from the shoreline and you will be amongst the ancient ruins of Patara, where there is a Roman theatre, a basilica, hammams and more.

As you cruise east, there is a blue grotto and Lycian Tomb at the Greek island of Kastellorizo, but the best is yet to come. Breath-taking Kekova Island sets the scene for your own adventure exploring the Sunken City of Kekova. Bring your snorkelling or Scuba diving gear to see under the water and observe the sea life that has now taken up residence in these ruins along the shore.

The Lycian Civilisation Museum and the ancient city of Andriake are a short cruise away at Demre on the mainland, and the highlight of the Turquoise Coast – pristine beaches and tranquil anchorages surrounded by countryside – are numerous on your approach to the seaside city of Antalya. Be sure to spend a day in one of these quiet coves fishing, kayaking, snorkelling or simply lounging about on the inflatables while the marine life glides through the bright blue sea.

Antalya is a sprawling city that has several beaches and parks interspersed by cafes along its waterfront, and child-friendly attractions such as the Aktur Lunapark, sand sculptures at Sandland, and the Antalya Aquarium. Düden Park and the Düden Waterfalls are perhaps the most famous scenic sight in the city, and make an ideal place to go for a stroll and capture the moment on camera with family and friends.

The Old Town is situated beside the Kaleiçi Marina and boasts many a museum and ancient monument, including an ancient Roman bathhouse, hammams and Hadrian’s Gate. The bars and clubs have your night-time entertainment sorted, or you can catch a concert or show at the Konyaalti Open Air Theatre.

Antalya Old Town

Alanya

Alanya is the last impressive destination and the farthest east along the Turkish Riviera, but it’s the small stops you make along the way that really make up the adventure.

Side, a city once famous for its role in slave trading, is now a far more peaceful place to set foot. Walk among the myriad ruins to work up your appetite before lunch, then sunbathe back on board or find your own spot on one of the beaches that stretch for miles.

When you reach Alanya, the cape is the highlight. The walk will take you to the Red Tower and its museum within, the Seljuk era Alanya Castle and panoramic views of the city below. A grotto accessible by water is concealed on the southeastern side, while the western side has the Damlataş Cave, made famous for its supposed healing properties, particularly for asthma sufferers.

Alanya has a reputation for an active lifestyle, and during your visit there is the opportunity to go tandem paragliding, rafting, Scuba diving around ancient sites and horse riding along the coast. After all these activities, make time for some pampering in one of the Turkish baths and spas, then return for a sunset meal aboard your luxury yacht.

Zaha Hadid Architects-designed eco-friendly luxury catamaran yacht concept ONEIRIC from Rossinavi

Rossinavi has unveiled a new cutting-edge eco-friendly catamaran yacht concept designed by Zaha Hadid Architects: Luxury yacht ONEIRIC.

Rossinavi Oneiric superyacht concept

Rossinavi and Zaha Hadid Architects are ready to usher in a new age of exploration, without leaving a trace of a carbon footprint behind: Three levels of solar panels charge the battery pack during the day for fully-electric navigation, and an AI-managed control centre will monitor and adjust energy consumption to ensure a low environmental impact.

Rossinavi catamaran yacht concept Oneiric

aft swim platform beach area

For day trips, M/Y ONEIRIC can cruise 100% of the time in full-electric mode with zero emissions, while transatlantic crossings can be completed in a full-electric mode for 70% per cent of the journey. This creates a saving of approximately 40 tonnes of CO2 compared to a conventional vessel. As such, it’s the perfect vessel for families to charter over great distances at destinations such as the Western Mediterranean or the Caribbean without the worry of accounting for fuel.

aft view

Furthermore, the full-electric mode is capable of silent operations using Rossinavi Zero Noise technology, which has been installed on all Rossinavi vessels for several years and is even more efficient aboard electric-mode vessels.

deck areas

When it comes to appearance the exterior is immediately eye-catching: Sweeping curves join the hull to the superstructure at the stern and flow seamlessly into other structures such as the communications mast. Stairways from the lower deck sweep up to the main deck aft, and subtle lighting adds a homely glow after dark. The main deck has a pool aft along with plenty of space to lounge and sunbathe. The flybridge creates a wonderful alternative with plush seating, dining facilities and a bar.

sun deck

Measuring 44m/144.4ft with a broad beam of 13.8m/45.1ft, the Owner and guests will have an abundance of space to spend their days as they please aboard superyacht ONEIRIC. Despite her size, the aluminium hull and superstructure ensure that she has a shallow draft of 2m/6.7ft, granting access to some of the best anchorages in destinations such as the Bahamas and Maldives charter grounds.

saloon

The interior boasts a massive open-plan lounge with a dining area and wet bar for the perfect entertainment area, regardless of what the weather is doing. A futuristic appearance is created through large lighting fixtures that lie flush with the ceiling, curving furniture that follows the shape of the room, and a minimalist environment ready to serve its occupants. Elsewhere on board, the media room is furnished for sitting or lying back and watching a film together and can be used as a quiet space to read or simply watch the world go by.

master suite

The accommodation is designed for up to 10 guests across 1 Master suite and 4 further well-proportioned guest cabins. Of note is the Master Suite, which has room for its own seating area, and 180-degree views in addition to skylights that create a bright environment connected to the natural world. Direct access to the foredeck with retractable shade is an added convenience that is sure to see frequent use.

Luxury catamaran ONEIRIC will surely turn dreams of eco-friendly cruising around the world for Owners and charterers into a reality.

Sailing yacht MOONBEAM IV restored in time for Fife Regatta

Classic 118-year-old sailing yacht MOONBEAM IV has been restored at JFA Yachts in time for her performance in the Fife Regatta taking place mid-June 2022.

MOONBEAM IV yacht ready for the regatta

Designed and built by Scottish architect William Fife in 1914, 35m/115t sailing yacht MOONBEAM IV was constructed with a teak wood hull and superstructure, both of which required stripping back and replacing in some sections.

MOONBEAM IV superyacht on water

The work took place at Brest between November 2021 and May 2022, where JFA Yachts worked with expert naval carpentry shipyard Hubert Stagnol to strip and overhaul the hull, giving her a new topcoat of ‘Vanilla White’, which was then followed up with an Awlgrip topcoat.

JFA Yachts’ carpenters restored the skylights, while Hubert Stagnol’s carpenters sanded and revarnished the bulwarks and Oregon pine rig. The head mast was replaced, and mechanical maintenance was completed before S/Y received new sails with her characteristic number 8, followed up by tests.

The Mediterranean Yacht Show returns to Greece charter grounds for successful 7th edition

The Mediterranean Yacht Show (MEDYS) is the world’s largest yacht charter show, and it has returned for its spectacular 7th edition at Nafplion, Greece, after a two-year absence due to the worldwide pandemic.

Luxury yachts at MEDYS 2022

This highly respected event for industry professionals ran from 30th April to 4th May 2022, organised by the Greek Yachting Association with the support of the Municipality of Nafplion. 90 registered yachts were in attendance and together they filled the designated show space, leaving on a waiting list another 20 luxury charter yachts that were hoping to show off their amenities, living areas and talented crews.

MEDYS 2022 opening ceremony

At the MEDYS 2022

MEDYS had 30 countries from across the world represented, and the 31 exhibitors showcased essential and innovative yacht-related products and services. Over 610 yacht brokers attended the 2022 edition, among them brokers from CharterWorld including Trina Howes. Over the five-day event, she took the opportunity to examine the vessels up close, and learn more about their crews and the services each charter vessel can offer its future guests.

The event was held online as the first Virtual Yacht Charter Shows during 2020 and 2021, however, these digital editions could not capture one of the most anticipated highlights of the physical event: The Chefs’ Competition. The panel of judges consisted of experienced yacht brokers and Angelo Lantos, who is the chef of the 2 Michelin-starred restaurants Spondi, and Thanos Stasinos, the chef of restaurants Huracan in Athens, Pacific in Monte Carlo and Ritz Carlton in Valencia.

MEDYS 2022 in Greece

“The Chefs’ Competition was a lot of fun,” commented Trina Howes. “It was so hard to choose a favourite as they delivered tasty dishes almost across the board, (even if it was vegan!). It was a terrific opportunity to see each chef’s creativity come to the table, and charter clients in Greece will not be disappointed.”

The Greece charter grounds have always been a favourite destination for luxury yachts, where myriad islands that would otherwise be out of reach are now just an afternoon nap away. From the otherworldly beauty of the Ionian Islands and the sailing haven of the Saronic Gulf to the partying and Scuba diving wonders of the Cyclades and the multi-cultural Dodecanese Islands, a single visit will leave you wondering what else there is to find.

Yachts ENTERPRISE and ATTITUDE: Two Bagliettos launched within a weekend

The last weekend in May was a busy one for the Baglietto shipyard in La Spezia, Italy: Luxury yacht ATTITUDE was launched on Saturday followed by 38m/124.8ft luxury yacht ENTERPRISE the following day.

Motor yacht ENTERPRISE by Baglietto

All-aluminium motor yacht ENTERPRISE has an explorer-style appearance and features a plumb bow as part of her exterior styling by Francesco Paszkowski Design. The interiors were mostly designed by the Owner’s wife in collaboration with the Baglietto in-house team for a personal touch combined with top quality materials.

superyacht ENTERPRISE by Baglietto

At 440 GT, she is the largest 38-metre vessel by volume ever built. A pair of Caterpillar C32 engines give a top speed of 18 knots, and a transatlantic range will take her Owner and guests to cruising grounds the world over.

Motor yacht ENTERPRISE by Baglietto launched

M/Y ENTERPRISE will make her world debut at the Monaco Yacht Show 2022.

41m Baglietto motor yacht ATTITUDE back on the water, ready for completion

Italian shipyard Baglietto has announced that 41m/134.6ft luxury yacht ATTITUDE, known as DOM 133 during construction, is back on the water after a private ceremony in La Spezia, attended by her Owner and his family.

Baglietto yacht ATTITUDE

M/Y ATTITUDE received a technical launch in March, however, the Owner could not be in attendance. This special ceremony was a worthy celebration of the work from the shipyard staff and the teams behind her naval architecture, exterior styling by Stefano Vafiadis and interiors by Ezequiel Farca.

Yacht ATTITUDE

Onboard there is a spacious salon on the main deck where the full-height windows open to create an effortless flow between the indoor and outdoor spaces. The outdoor areas boast a sundeck swimming pool and a main deck infinity pool that has a lifting bottom to lie flush with the rest of the deck. The beach club below offers shade and comfort for life beside the water, and this prestigious boat builder has no doubt left plenty of room for the Owner’s choice of water toys and tenders. In the engine room, a pair of Caterpillar C32 engines provide a top speed of 17 knots and a cruising speed of 15 knots, at which she has a range of 3,500 nautical miles.

Motoryacht ATTITUDE by Baglietto

Technical specifications reveal a draft of 2.10m/7ft for accessing shallow cruising grounds and accommodation for up to 10 guests and a crew of 8.

Superyacht ATTITUDE will make her premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2022, running from the 6th to 11th of September, after which she will be on display at the Monaco Yacht Show 2022 from the 28th of September to the 1st of October.
