The three-deck atrium is a visual delight as well as an architectural challenge on board a yacht, and while everything on the surface appears simple and refined, behind the scenes complex calculations have resulted in state-of-the-art structural integrity and fire & safety measures.

Looking inside © Feadship

Glass is an essential aspect to the seamless look of M/Y PURE, offering true floor-to-ceiling windows and using a ceramic composition called frit to bake a pattern on the glass white creates an opaque white outer appearance while those looking from the inside out will see the world through a dark tinted glaze.

Despite her futuristic appearance, all of the technology is available today to make PURE a conceivable reality, with the potential to redefine the yachting industry: The first Feadship Future concept was revealed in 2006 and challenged designers to push the boundaries and re-imagine the future of yacht design.

Propulsion of yacht concept Pure © Feadship

Hybrid propulsion was predicated on F-stream in 2007 and this was followed by a significant reduction in fuel consumption in the design of 2010’s motor yacht BREATHE. Following on from this, superyacht SAVANNAH in 2015 became the world’s first luxury yacht with hybrid power generation. Luxury yacht PURE is sure to inspire a new generation of superyachts which will delight Owners and charterers alike.

Top Crewed Luxury Yacht Charter Destinations 2021/2022: CARIBBEAN & THE BAHAMAS

The Caribbean and the Bahamas are just perfect for luxury yacht charters, and over the winter months the rich and famous descend to party in the sunshine and disappear off to pristine remote islands. When there are so many destinations to discover filled with life and culture unique to themselves, touring the Caribbean and Bahamas with life’s little luxuries in tow make it the best holiday choice for winter 2021/22.

It’s your choice whether you mingle amongst the festivities or revel on isolated white sand beaches, being the only people around for miles. The sunbathing facilities, top-notch entertainment systems and a talented crew onboard your vessel ensure that you have everything you need to host your own incredible party either on the water or beside it. The following day, you can sleep in, catch up on your zzzs from the sun loungers, or pack action into every hour with the selection of water toys at your disposal.

Florida, the Caribbean, Bahamas & Bermuda

Florida is for many international jet setters a starting point for a luxury yacht charter and a destination in and of itself: Beach bodies sun themselves on Miami Beach and at night the bars and clubs keep the entertainment going into the early hours. Shopaholics will be in heaven with all of the international brands and boutiques available to update your seasonal style, and you can personalise your home with the work of professional artists displayed in galleries.

The Caribbean is the place to be and be seen over the winter months, where the Christmas and New Year parties are legendary. The Windward and Leeward Islands have an abundance of golden sand beaches, seawater bluer than the sky and spots for high-powered water sports as well as quiet anchorages for complete privacy and to reconnect with the natural world.

Some favourites in the north include the US Virgin Islands for its nature parks, entertainment options and shopping opportunities, and the British Virgin Islands for the Baths at Virgin Gorda, the wreck of RMS RHONE and iconic bars on Jost Van Dyke.

Saint Martin/Sint Maarten and Saint Barthélemy are the places to be for high-end shopping, delectable cuisine and the St. Barth’s Bucket Regatta which takes place annually and is one of the most prestigious events of the Caribbean yacht charter calendar. The Pitons on St. Lucia are the island’s most famous attraction and well worth the hike, while Grenada holds nicknamed the Island of Spice for good reason. Its plantations produce flavoursome spices that will delight food connoisseurs, and there is plenty too for lovers of the great outdoors: Wander the lush national parks, follow the trails and stroll through town to admire the Gregorian buildings while discovering local art and culture.

The Bahamas & Bermuda

The Bahamas is a popular year-round destination that reaches its peak season over the festive winter months. Many escape the cold of the northern hemisphere to lie on white-sand beaches and drift through sunny afternoons in the turquoise-coloured sea. The Out Islands have a far more relaxed pace than Nassau and this is where the true wonders of the islands are hidden: Visit the pink sand beaches up in Eleuthera, head down to the white cliffs of Long Island and the shallows of the Bight of Acklins, gaze deep into the world’s second-largest blue hole and encounter marvellous endemic bird species on Mayaguana and the Inagua Islands. These last destinations are as far south into the Bahamas as it’s possible to go before entering the northernmost Caribbean territory of the Turks & Caicos Islands.

Bermuda has some of the same great attractions as the Bahamas: Pink sand beaches, crystal clear shallow waters and a relaxed pace of life that offers a great balance between cuisine, culture, shopping and simply unwinding in picture-perfect natural surrounds. Bermuda is not known for its party lifestyle, and its remote location means that fewer tourists visit these shores. As a result, you’ll have your choice of Scuba diving sites, snorkelling and fishing spots, and beaches for sunset barbeques and hosting your own sundown soirees.

Top Crewed Luxury Yacht Charter Destinations 2021/2022: EASTERN MEDITERRANEAN

The Adriatic is the start of an Eastern Mediterranean luxury yacht charter for many, beginning in Venice before travelling south to the Istrian Peninsula and Dalmatian Coast. Venice has the same wonderful cafe culture that can be found on the western side of Italy, plus unique treats such as the Murano and Burano glass workshops which are world-renowned. Take a private tour of St. Mark’s Cathedral and the Doge’s Palace, and a gondola ride along the waterways is a memorable way to see the city. As night descends there are concerts and plenty of modern entertainments to keep you enthralled with Venice, particularly during the annual Venice Film Festival and Venice Carnival. Accommodation during these events is limited, which is why a luxury yacht charter is even more desirable.

Cyprus

Although Istria has long held its position as a top summer holiday destination in the Eastern Mediterranean, Croatia as a whole is growing in popularity, and both motor yachts and sailing yachts offer the freedom to visit the exceptional islands and marine reserves on your own initiative. Snorkelling and Scuba diving are prime activities in Croatia because there are so many interesting wrecks from WWII, and swimmers can have close encounters with dolphins around Losinj.

Umag, Novigrad, Porec, Rovinj and Pula all have impressive architecture and cuisine, both of which are influenced by Italy across the Adriatic. Furthermore, there are full-bodied wines, succulent seafood and traditional Slavic dishes to add to your menu too.

Eastern Mediterranean yacht charter vacations

The Diocletian’s Palace in Split is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that should be included in an itinerary exploring the amazing Dalmatian Islands, known for partying and water sports close to the cities, while more remote locations offer peaceful nights under starry skies. Lastovo and Mljet are choice destinations to reconnect with yourself and nature, while Dubrovnik is as lively and enchanting as it’s always been, replete with ancient manors, museums, galleries, boutique shops and international brands, while the winding cobblestone streets conceal myriad cafes and cosy bars.

The Bay of Kotor is part of Montenegro just south of the Dalmatian Coast. There are numerous little Medieval seaside villages that will satisfy history enthusiasts and urban adventurers who like to take in the architecture on a walkabout town. Kotor itself has several worthy attractions, including castles, forts, bastions and churches and a cathedral all vying for your attention.

Croatia in the Eastern Mediterranean

There is so much history and culture to discover amongst the Greek islands that you could return year after year and still not see it all. The Ionian Islands are known for their scenic serenity and are lusher and more temperate than the Cyclades and Dodecanese farther east. Corfu, Kefalonia, Zakynthos and Lefkada are the most popular for the beaches and laid-back lifestyle in town. Head off the beaten track and find your own quiet beach for uninterrupted time with family and friends.

The Cyclades are an eclectic mix of traditional and modern delights, and this is what makes these islands desirable to so many. The blue and white buildings of Santorini make the perfect backdrop for holiday snaps, then venture forth to find the colourful red and black sand beaches. Evening entertainments include bars and clubs, however, a taste of ouzo in the local tavernas accompanied by traditional music.

Beautiful Turkey

The Dodecanese Islands have a more relaxed atmosphere than the Cyclades and are the perfect place to explore at your own pace. Discover the unique history of the area, such as sponge diving in Kalymnos and kayaking through the exceptional Galazio Spilaio (Blue Cave) at Kastellorizo.

Sailing yachts use the winds within the Saronic Gulf to adventure from one island to the next, and this destination not far from Athens is surprisingly quiet even at the height of the summer tourism season. Another verdant and relaxed archipelago is up north: The Aegean & Sporades Islands for beaches, forested coastal walks and fine dining created with fresh local ingredients.

Zakynthos in Greece – Lovely destination for a superyacht charter

The western coast of Turkey is known as the Turquoise Coast, and it is well named for its clear blue waters. The beaches are also resplendent, with golden sands tempting visitors and locals alike around Marmaris, Fethiye and Oludeniz. Water sports are a must, particularly snorkelling and Scuba diving to see dolphins, turtles and other thriving marine life. Turkey also has two of the Ancient Wonders of the World easily accessible by luxury yacht charter: Stop off at Bodrum for the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus (as well as some wonderful spa treatments in a traditional Hammam) and see the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus.

Charter Yacht of the Future? New 94-metre hydrogen superyacht concept ZeRO by Sorgiovanni

Sam Sorgiovanni of Sorgiovanni Designs has released an incredible 94m/308ft luxury yacht concept that fuses cutting edge design and hydrogen technology to create a private superyacht or charter yacht of the future, ready to lead the way forward in the 21st Century.

94-metre hydrogen superyacht ZeRO concept by Sam Sorgiovanni Design

There are several eye-catching features that distinguish M/Y ZeRO from other vessels of a similar size: The sweeping curves of the exterior encompass the superstructure in a wrap-around hull, while on the main deck a glass-bottomed swimming pool juts out over the deep lower deck swim platform, which itself is ideal for sunbathing and social events besides the water.

A hangar and touch-down helipad occupy the foredeck and bow, while the upper deck and bridge deck have an abundance of pace aft for alfresco dining, lounging and sunbathing. The sundeck is a secluded space where guests can savour the sunshine or gaze at the stars.

94-metre hydrogen mega yacht ZeRO concept by Sam Sorgiovanni Design

The propulsion system will draw from hydrogen tanks, hydrogen fuel cells and an electric engine. Power will be stored within battery cells until it is required, ensuring that there is no carbon impact on the environment. The semi-planing hull form is designed for efficiency and stability through seas the world over, allowing for high-speed cruising as well as crossing extended distances at cruising speed.

Sorgiovanni Designs will be present at the Monaco Yacht Show 2021, running from 22-25 September.
