Heesen presents imposing 55m motor yacht Project GEMINI
Luxury yacht PROJECT GEMINI, also known as HULL YN 19755, is the latest of the 55M Steel Class from Dutch shipyard Heesen currently under construction under speculation, and she follows on from successful sister ships SOLEMATES (ex. DIOSCURI CASTOR) and POLLUX.
M/Y PROJECT GEMINI features an athletic modern exterior Frank Laupman of Omega Architects, while Luca Dini Design & Architecture have been chosen for the sophisticated interior in their first collaboration with Heesen. Tay wood and natural stone complement the marine leather wall panels and doors, and the fabric-lined ceilings add to the sophistication and calm. The main salon has bronze mirrored ceiling panels the emphasise the light and space within, while the lounge area provides sumptuous sofas to gather the whole group together before or after a meal seated at the dining table for 12.
The sky lounge is ideal for laid-back days or effortless entertaining, with its widescreen TV and bar to provide refreshments.
The tenders and water toys are stored on the foredeck, leaving plenty of room in the lower deck stern section for a beach club that incorporates a wellness area.
The exteriors treat everyone to a spacious 110m2/1184ft2 sundeck with a Jacuzzi surrounded by sun pads, a bar, alfresco dining table, a sofa and sun loungers. The bridge deck aft is an alternative alfresco dining and lounging spot with the benefits of the sky lounge close by, and the main deck aft is an excellent place for coffee mornings or an aperitif.
Altogether, there is over 400m2/4305ft2 of luxury areas onboard for both the Owner and guests to enjoy, all contained within a yacht of 760 GT.
The accommodation is designed for up to 12 guests in 6 en-suite cabins, of which there is a stately full-beam Owner’s apartment of 83m2/893.4ft2. Within, the floor-to-ceiling windows are lined by cotton and linen curtains, while the forward walk-in wardrobes connect through to the en-suite bathroom complete with a rain shower and black bathtub centrepiece with a lighting fixture that mirrors its shape.
The other guest cabins consist of a VIP stateroom on the upper deck, and two double cabins and two twin cabins on the lower deck.
A pair of MTU 8V 4000 M63 IMO Tier-III engines will power her through the water for a top speed of 15.5 knots and a range of 4,500 nautical miles at 13 knots.
The hull and superstructure will be joined together at the Heesen facility in Oss during March 2021, and she will be available for delivery in autumn 2022.

Feadship sweeps the honours at World Superyacht Awards 2020 with luxury yachts NAJIBA, LADY S and PI
Friday the 13th is unlucky for some, however for Dutch shipyard Feadship it could not have been more rewarding at the virtual World Superyacht Awards 2020, where the luxury yachts NAJIBA, LADY S and PI won Neptune trophies for every category the shipyard was nominated for – including the highly coveted Motoryacht of the Year award.
The online ceremony was hosted in London and ‘attended’ by hundreds of invited guests from locations across the world. The panel of judges was composed entirely of superyacht Owners, who assessed the nominees over recent weeks.
58m/190ft superyacht NAJIBA was the first to win an award, receiving Displacement Motoryacht Between 500GT and 999GT. She was designed by Philippe Briand in conjunction with De Voogt Naval Architects, resulting in a top speed of 17 knots despite a beam wider than her competitors. Her fuel burn of just 137 litres/hour while cruising at 12 knots was approximately half the consumption of the other motor yachts in the same category. The ‘fresh and innovative’ interior from Studio Liaigre and ‘clean, harmonious exterior lines’ by Claudio Cicconetti also impressed the judges in combination with the high quality of construction.
Luxury yacht PI was next up for an award, taking the Displacement Motoryachts Between 1,500GT and 1,999GT category. The exterior by Jamsen and harmonious minimalist interiors by Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design complemented the ‘remarkable build quality’ and ‘superb design’, making her the unanimous winner. In particular the judges were impressed with the floor-to-ceiling windows without mullions, for an even greater connection between the inside and outside worlds.
The 93m/305ft motor yacht LADY S took first place in the Displacement Motoryachts Between 2,000GT and 4,999GT category: The Owners had considerable involvement in the project with veteran design teams Michael Leach Design and Reymond Langton Design. The innovative layout has fire pits on two levels, the largest glass sliding doors on any luxury yacht, a fully certified helipad deck and an abundance of elegance and harmony in the exterior styling. Inside, the judges found one special feature after another to admire, from the bridge deck gym with 180-degree views to the impressive beach club and the first Dolby 3D IMAX cinema ever installed aboard a luxury yacht.
After all of the categories had been announced, the audience discovered which vessel had won the prestigious title of Motoryacht of the Year – and it was PI that was awarded this honour.
Her ‘harmonious exterior lines, the sophistication of her Zen-like interior, and the extreme connectivity between interior and exterior’ secured the award, along with the exceptional engineering that made the full-height windows on the main deck possible. The judges agreed:
“[The] overall perfection of her construction and a degree of excellence… made Pi a worthy winner of this prestigious title.”
