Winners of the World Superyacht Awards 2024 announced

Earlier this month the winners of the World Superyacht Awards 2024 were announced at a glittering ceremony held in Venice. The winners come from some of the most renowned shipyards, naval architects and designers in the world and recognise outstanding achievement in yacht building across a range of categories from Motor Yacht of the Year to the Voyager’s and Legacy Award.

We brought you details of the full list of nominees last month and now we are delighted to reveal the winners in the Big Four Awards:

Motor Yacht of the Year

Winner: M/Y ALCHEMY | Rossinavi | Philippe Briand | Enrico Gobbi
2023 | 66m (216’6”) | 12 guests

The Motor Yacht of the Year is awarded by the judges for the best yacht across all the motor yacht categories. As her name suggests luxury yacht ALCHEMY is a magical creation born from the combined skills of her design team and discerning owner. Her crowning glory, specifically noted by the judges is her suspended glass staircase which opens up the main salon in a sculptural form plus her overall layout which includes outstanding storage and crew areas.

Sailing Yacht of the Year

Luxury sailing yacht SARISSA

Winner: S/Y SARISSA| Royal Huisman | Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design | Liaigre
2022 | 59.7m (196′) | 10 guests

The Sailing Yacht of the Year winner came from the 40m and above category and was considered by the judges to be the most notable from both categories. Sailing yacht SARISSA was built with performance sailing in mind, and it was her groundbreaking propulsion system and state-of-the-art sails and rig plus exquisite interior which appealed to the judges.

Refitted Yacht

Winner: M/Y CORINTHIA VII | Lurssen | Tim Heywood | Bizzozero Cassina Architects
2023 | 97m (318ft) | 12 guests

Superyacht CARINTHIA VII stood out in this category because of her ambitious refit, updating her from a private yacht to commercial in a mere 10 months, while remaining true to the original design. As well as her technical and structural upgrades to meet commercial code requirements, charter-friendly amenities were introduced including a swimming pool and gym.

Winner: M/Y H3 | OceanCo | Lateral Naval Architects | Reymond Langton Design
2000/2023 | 105.0m (344’6″) | 32 guests

What makes a rebuild rather than a refit? If a significant amount metal has been replaced and the interior and technical areas have seen major alterations, the yacht is considered in the rebuild class. Superyacht H3 saw a multi-faceted alteration which clearly stood out from the other nominees and was so extreme, the team at Oceano considered her to be akin to a new build. She was extended by 10 metres, with two metres added to the forward deck in addition to an eight-metre stern extension. Oceanco estimates that rebuilding H3 saved a year and a considerable amount of carbon, compared to starting a new build this length from scratch.

Legacy Award: Paola Trifiro

Paola has been a committed member of the World Superyacht Awards judging panel and given her time and energy to the awards since 2012. As her fellow judges attested: “Paola has built and sailed a number of spectacular superyachts and is well known and respected in the industry. She is a great personality, and through her long-term work as a judge, she has supported the industry in many ways. She is an icon, instantly recognisable and highly knowledgeable.”

The ceremony celebrated Paola Trifirò’s remarkable life in the yachting industry with the presentation of a well-deserved Legacy Award.

The CharterWorld team have been delighted to get to know the nominees and winners to understand the direction of travel for outstanding superyacht design and building – and of course to welcome some of the winners to the charter market.

Three new Custom Line superyachts have been launched in quick succession from the Ferretti Group Shipyard

Spring has been a busy time at the Ferretti Group Shipyard as they have announced the launch of three new Custom Line superyachts in less than a month.

Superyacht OUR RED SEA

Motor yacht AT ONE, a Custom Line Navetta 30, hit the water on 10th April at a ceremony attended by the owner, his family and the Custom Line Team. The yacht is the ninth hull in the Custom Line Navetta 30 series and a multi-faceted collaboration between the Product Strategy Department and Ferrretti Group Engineering, who worked with exterior designer Filippo Salvetti and the Custom Line Atelier alongside Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel at ACPV Architects.

With a length of 28.43m (xxxx), the yacht has a dynamic silhouette with horizontal lines sweeping towards the bow. The timeless but forward-thinking styling blends a muted colour palette of neutral shades with contrasting bright highlights. The furniture and fixtures are created from fine natural materials such as nubuck leather and matt-finish travertine marble, creating an exclusive style.

The new owners of motor yacht QUEEN J III attended her launch on 24th April and were delighted to see their made-to-measure yacht, created by Ferretti Group Engineering and Custom Line Atelier, on the water for the first time. She is the 31st Custom Line Navetta 33, one of the shipyards most successful lines, characterised by her hull technology featuring an innovative bulbous bow providing excellent seaworthiness and stability, plus a range of 2,000 nautical miles.

The chic interior uses warm, rich tones against dark seductive shades in a variety of textures and finishes ranging from travertine marble to American walnut and soft leather.

The most recent launch was motor yacht OUR RED SEA, whose ceremony took place on 6th May in the presence of her owner family who travelled from their home in the Middle East, where the yacht will cruise. With a length of 32.82 m and a planing hull, she is the 21st Custom Line 106 and features design by Ferretti Group Engineering in collaboration with the Custom Line Atelier who have given the yacht a pared down refinement throughout. She boasts generous and spaces and clean lines with a strong architectural balance between the exteriors and interiors. The use of neutral, pale colours in shades of sand, bronze and white are set off against the velvety notes of blue, aquamarine and petrol features in some of the furnishings and fixtures finished in marble, nubuck leather and maple wood.

The launch of these three superyachts reflects the world renowned standards of the Ferretti and Custom Line brands.

Rossinavi launch 43m hybrid-electric catamaran SEAWOLF X

Rossinavi have launched 42.75m Sea Cat superyacht SEAWOLF X, designed by Fulvio De Simoni Yacht Design as a hydro-electric catamaran – the shipyard’s most innovative project to date. Originally revealed at the 2022 Monaco Yacht Show she is the first multi-hull project from Rossinavi.

Her eco credentials allow travel in three ‘performance modes’: full-electric mode for day cruises , 90 percent electric on multi-day trips and 80 percent on transatlantic journeys. Additionally, when she is moored, a “hibernation mode” activates which reduces consumption allowing generated energy to be given back to the quay or to a private property. She can recharge at the shore in five hours and supplies enough energy to charge up an entire villa.

There are yet more innovations on board including Rossinavi AI, an artificial intelligence system which analyses the vessels operations, predicts guests’ needs and communicates ‘lower-impact behaviours’ and ‘conscious cruising’ to the crew. The software can also monitor the battery pack to keep it within the optimal energy efficient range of 20 to 80 percent.

Designed to ‘liberate minds from preconceptions’ about catamaran construction, the team have created a low-profile exterior which resembles a sports car and is fitted with solar panels and lightweight solutions.

Outdoor living spans three distinct areas; a convivial cockpit centered around a pool, an expansive sundeck with sunbathing and living spaces, and an innovative bow area featuring a hidden pool and a convertible home theatre. New York-based design firm Meyer Davis have created an interior that “complements the cutting-edge yacht to bring relaxed luxury and sustainable design to its forefront,” the shipyard said. The decor takes inspiration from nature, in particular the sun, the sea and sand. Accommodation is for up to ten guests in four cabins across both hulls.

Luxury yacht SEAWOLF X carries the BluE label, which is the shipyard’s new sustainable philosophy that prioritises environmental impact in designs and is inspired by phytoplankton.

“This yacht showcases remarkable technological innovations in both power management and propulsion technologies, marking the beginning of a new chapter in next-generation vessels,” concluded Federico Rossi.

We look forward to seeing catamaran SEAWOLF X on her maiden voyage soon.
