The yacht’s name, Sophia, is imbued with meaning. In ancient Rome, the phrase “nomen est omen” suggested that a person’s name could predict their future. The name Sophia, associated with wisdom, skill, and intelligence, aligns perfectly with Heesen’s commitment to exceptional craftsmanship and innovative design. The name also evokes the elegance and talent of the iconic actress Sophia Loren, mirroring the yacht’s aesthetic appeal.

Heesen’s dedication to quality is evident in its construction process. The hull of Project Sophia emerged from Shed 6, where a team of 20 to 40 skilled craftsmen meticulously welded it. Heesen is one of the few shipyards that constructs its own aluminum hulls in-house, ensuring unparalleled quality and precision. The company’s investment in training its welders is a testament to its commitment to excellence. Becoming a certified Heesen welder requires over 500 hours of intensive training, ensuring that each weld meets the highest standards.

Project Sophia features a hard-chine shallow draft hull designed by Heesen’s in-house naval architects. With a draft of only 2.15 meters, facilitated by a recessed propeller tunnel, she is ideal for navigating the crystal-clear waters of the Bahamas. This design enhances efficiency, making Project Sophia 12% more fuel-efficient compared to traditional designs. Equipped with two MTU 16V 4000 M65L engines, the yacht can reach a top speed of 23 knots and boasts a transatlantic range of 3,100 nautical miles at 11 knots.

This collaboration has resulted in a harmonious fusion of aesthetics and functionality. Emrecan Özgün, CEO of Unique Yacht Design, highlights the innovative features of Eternal Spark from their latest semi-custom series: “Our design focus centers on creating expansive, sheltered open decks, as demonstrated by the 499 GT platforms. These yachts, exemplified by a superbly designed charter vessel in our range, offer an outstanding layout with ample spaces to enjoy daily activities. With a sleek, sporty, and elegant exterior, Bilgin 163 series yachts boast extensive exterior areas, including a vast beach club complemented by a sauna. We aimed to create generous areas such as a 21-meter sundeck, a 12-meter bridge deck aft, and a spacious main deck aft, measuring nearly 9.5 meters wide and 4 meters long. This provides a direct connection to the beach club and close proximity to the sea, all without making the exterior design appear bulky.”

Sun deck Jacuzzi with a model

Eternal Spark’s modern design caters to every desire. Enrico Lumini, Partner and Head of Design at Hot Lab, describes the yacht as follows: “Bilgin 163 follows the studio’s new philosophy ‘Architecture for Voyagers’ and focuses on cleanliness of architectural volumes and a renewed sense for softness of lines. A plastic minimalism, sober but rich in details.” Constructed using over 200 different materials, the yacht features top-tier amenities and cutting-edge entertainment technology, distinguishing her from other yachts in her class.

Exterior relaxation area

The yacht includes six guest cabins that can accommodate 12 guests, alongside six outdoor and three indoor socializing areas, and an array of unique amenities, making her an unparalleled charter option. Notable features include outdoor and indoor cinemas, a substantial 5,000-liter Jacuzzi pool on the sun deck, and a beach club focused on spa experiences. The transformer swimming platform provides easy sea access, making her perfect for charter guests seeking both adventure and relaxation. A charter of ten days on Eternal Spark wouldn’t be enough to encounter all she has to deliver to her clients.

Berkay Yılmaz, the Commercial Director of Bilgin Yachts, describes the interior of the new Bilgin 163 as modern, luxurious, and elegant. He says, “Eternal Spark is everything and more than described in the brochure! A superbly designed charter vessel with plenty of spaces to enjoy whatever the day delivers. She has a sleek, sporty, and elegant exterior design with huge exterior spaces throughout the vessel, including a large beach club with a sauna. I believe that she will offer the best experiences to her charter clients and is the best charter yacht on the market.” Yılmaz highlights that the yacht is the most technically advanced 499 GRT vessel, on par with Bilgin Yachts’ renowned 80-meter superyachts M/Y Tatiana and M/Y Leona.

master suite

“I am truly happy and proud to have successfully completed the construction of our yacht. This project, the first in our 50-meter series, stands out with its much larger and more spacious usage areas compared to its peers,” adds Senior Project Manager Halil Uzunbabalar. He highlights that, contrary to other shipyards that no longer manufacture detailed furniture, Bilgin continues to uphold this tradition, showcasing it beautifully in this project. “The meticulously designed and crafted furniture elevates the yacht’s luxury and comfort. Our large living and entertainment areas on the open decks provide magnificent spaces where everyone can comfortably spend time independently and enjoy the sea. The combination of the beach club at the back with the swimming platform and sauna offers a very spacious area for use while at anchor. Additionally, we achieved top-level quality in our technical areas by using the best materials and the latest technologies for the yacht’s performance and safety. I want to thank our entire team who contributed to this project and our clients who trusted us. We wish our yacht to bring delightful moments to its owner during its adventures on the seas.”

Aerial view of the yacht

Matija Longin, manager of Eternal Spark, reflects on the intricate process of building the vessel, expressing, “It’s been almost three years now, and every single day you are doing something on, and around that beautiful vessel. She is unique and beautiful. Aroused from continued dialogue with yachting industry leaders and professionals, our returning clients, and travel enthusiasts, Eternal Spark seeks to satisfy the most demanding cultures, emotions, and charter expectations. Six cabins for twelve guests, ten crew, four decks, five separated bars, seven divided socializing areas, ability to host over a hundred people for stationary parties, vast storage spaces, gymnasium equipment, full indoor and outdoor cinema, custom-built chase boat… You name it! I can’t say more than to invite you on board to explore and enjoy by yourself!”

Hybrid 28m motor catamaran ATALI launched by Wider Yachts

The second hull in the 28m (191’8″) WiderCat 92 series, christened motor yacht ATALI has been launched from the Wider Vision Hub in Fano, Italy. Luca Dini Design & Architecture are credited with the interior and exterior design of this innovative hybrid catamaran and have created a custom yacht perfectly suited to the owner’s needs.

Motor yacht ATALI launches

The owners and their captain have been involved in the design process throughout, focussing on the interiors and décor plus the engineering and construction. The décor is a blend of light tones, natural materials and soft fabrics in earthy shades which are enhanced by the large windows which bring in an abundance of natural light.

The yacht features a four-stateroom layout with a spacious master suite on the main deck including his-and-hers ensuites, personalised wardrobe arrangement and a private foredeck lounge. The three generous guest suites are on the lower deck and are all ensuite.

Luxury yacht ATALI

The owner’s personalised layout continues outside where the open aft deck features a dining table with integrated teppanyaki-style grill for family cooking. The foredeck has a bow lounge and hi-lo table in front of the wheelhouse. The 67sqm beach club is formed when the folding bulwarks are deployed and features a full wet bar. The garage area can store jet skis while the tender is stowed on the swim platform which can be accessed directly from the two VIP suites.

The hybrid propulsion system remains a key feature of the WiderCat 92, with twin electric motors delivering 500kW each to the thrusters and two 349kW variable speed generators for electrical energy production. This allows cruising in ZEM (Zero Emission Mode) with a range of 27 nautical miles at 6 knots in complete silence, or 14 hours autonomy on battery power at anchor. On bright, sunlit days, the 75 m² of solar panels on the WiderCat 92 can ensure full energy self-sufficiency when anchored.

Motor yacht ATALI is currently undergoing outfitting while three more units in the series are currently under construction.
