Bilgin Yachts announce the launch of 80m motor yacht AL REEM – the final unit in an award-winning trilogy

This week, Turkish shipyard Bilgin Yachts announced the launch of 80m (262’6”) superyacht AL REEM, reinforcing their position at the forefront of luxury superyacht building. As a culmination of a three-year build the yacht is being celebrated as the final unit in an award-winning trilogy which include M/Y TATIANA and M/Y LEONA.  The Bilgin team once again collaborated with Unique Yacht Design and H2 Yacht Design who created the interiors.

Emrecan Özgün, founder and CEO of Unique Yacht Design explains, “While AL REEM is the youngest sibling in this series, she is the most voluminous, boasting a gross tonnage of 1,758 GT -nearly 100 gross ton more than Tatiana. To achieve this, we completely redesigned the superstructure, creating smooth, flowing lines and an imposing yet elegant profile. The mast is larger and more striking than her predecessors.”

Her striking superstructure combines metallic grey, white and black which complements the fully teak foredeck and expansive glazing. Standout features include a forward-facing owner’s suite with 300-degree views, extended aft decks perfect for entertainment and relaxation plus a continuous connection to the surroundings.

Özgün notes, “We tailored Al Reem’s layout and design to deliver a sleek and luxurious experience while maintaining a connection to nature.”

The owner’s vision for the interiors of superyacht AL REEM was to create a serene oasis focused on calmness, purity, and relaxation. This vision was elegantly translated into the final design through an emphasis on modern aesthetics, sleek lines, and an open layout that encourages a connection with nature.

Jonny Horsfield, founder of H2 Yacht Design, shared his insights: “We developed a completely new interior aesthetic for AL REEM, focusing on a light and neutral palette that feels fresh yet calming on the soul. The design exudes a sophisticated and timeless elegance, crafted to provide both luxury and comfort.”

The interior finish includes uniquely veined marble as an eye-catching focal point, intricately decorative glass creating dynamic light refraction and matt timbers which deliver a warm organic texture to contrast with polished stainless-steel details. Silk carpets and wood flooring complement each other – understated tones and luxury underfoot.

The layout prioritises multi-functional spaces which perfectly facilitate relaxation and socialising, appealing to the owner’s lifestyle. The owner intends to use AL REEM primary for personal travel, so the layout incorporates numerous lounging areas, outdoor decks and amenities which cater to a luxury experience.

The owner’s representative had this to say, “Bilgin’s proactive and flexible team quickly established a productive working relationship. Their creativity and attention to detail exceeded all expectations, translating the owner’s vision into a breathtaking reality.”

Discover enchanting Indonesia aboard 50m luxury charter yacht KUDANIL EXPLORER

Once an offshore oil supply vessel, luxury charter yacht KUDANIL EXPLORER underwent a total transformation in 2018 to become one of the most beautifully presented, safe and sturdy superyachts currently available for charter in Indonesia. The meticulous redesign was influenced by traditional Indonesian style but introduced contemporary features and amenities.

Explorer yacht KUDANIL EXPLORER

CharterWorld’s Director of Charter, Nick Benazeth was lucky enough to be part of a recent Fam trip on board luxury yacht KUDANIL EXPLORER on a stunning journey around Raja Ampat. Over the course of six days cruising through the breathtaking waters of Misool, he enjoyed the action-packed itinerary, gourmet cuisine and some of nature’s unique hidden treasures.

“A truly unique yacht, KUDANIL offers amazing volumes and deck spaces far exceeding what you usually find on vessels in Indonesia. Her unrivalled stability, range and ‘go anywhere’ expedition ethos will equally please those seeking adventure and those looking for a luxurious vacation. Beyond the love and attention to detail that have made the yacht extremely comfortable, it is the crew that makes this programme stand out – it is hard to find a more friendly, welcoming and efficient group of professionals anywhere and they effortlessly adapt to the most diverse charter groups, making everyone feel part of the KUDANIL family shortly after stepping onboard.”

Family-owned and operated, with an onboard team of 21, KUDANIL EXPLORER is an exclusive vessel with accommodation for up to 16 guests in an eight-cabin layout. Beautifully furnished to maximise guest comfort each suite is over 30sqm in size and includes a premium ensuite and private terrace.

KUDANIL EXPLORER Main deck lounge and dining

There is over 1,000sqm of serene guest space across four expansive decks including an al fresco dining setting, lounge and sunbathing areas – furnished with stylish day beds – and a stunning jacuzzi on the roof, all with 360-degree ocean views. Sail shades and the gentle local breeze will keep guests cool while they sunbathe during the day or stargaze at night. Once inside, the main deck can host guests for dinner or drinks in the dining room, library lounge and bar, or for a movie night in the cinema and pampering treatments in the spa.

Evening Jacuzzi – KUDANIL EXPLORER

Having spent time unwinding on deck guests can take to the water on the array of tenders, jet skis and other water toys to explorer the region and ocean up close. As well as the jet skis, the yacht carries glass-bottomed kayaks and SUPs for those who prefer a gentler pace, a full range of diving equipment for underwater explorers and an inflatable sea pool to keep the kids safe. The onboard dive master and activities coordinator is bound to keep everyone busy!

Both the head chef and head steward will ensure every meal is an occasion by presenting a blend of Indonesian and Western cuisine while embracing ‘gotong royong’ – the Indonesian spirit of cooperation and harmony. And if you still need help relaxing, a range of traditional and modern spa treatments are available on board including Balinese massage, hot stone treatments and mani/pedicures.

KUDANIL EXPLORER – Spa

Explorer yacht KUDANIL EXPLORER offers itineraries across the Indonesian archipelago which includes some 17,500 islands, 719 local languages and a warm and welcoming culture. Of the inhabited islands, some of the most well-known are Raja Ampat, Komodo and Bali each representing their own diverse landscape and wildlife and charter itineraries may include the Spice Islands.

“First timers to the region may want to start by discovering the Komodo and Flores areas, which are relatively easy to access and offer a lot of great locations within short cruising distances. Moving on to Raja Ampat and West Papua opens up the possibility of some of the finest diving and snorkelling on the planet, as well as stunning scenery and unique interactions with local communities. For the more adventurous, the opportunities are endless to explore the mythical Spice Islands, Sumba, Ambon, Timor Leste and Sulawesi…and the list goes on, all places that KUDANIL has been to and can take you to in ideal conditions.”

PAPUA Indonesia

Raja Ampat’s huge pristine coral reef systems are a scuba dream come true – and a fantastic site for snorkelers too. Just like the underwater world, the scenery above water is equally mesmerising. Enjoy some quiet time kayaking around the picturesque bays full of orchids and other tropical plants or simply relax lying on one of the spectacular beaches taking in the sounds of nature.

Guest stateroom – KUDANIL EXPLORER

Komodo is part of the Lesser Sunda chain of islands in Indonesia and is perhaps best known for the giant Komodo Dragon lizards which inhabit the volcanic landscapes. Locals believe that the historic looking Dragons are descendants of a century’s old dragon princess.

Experiences in Indonesia on board KUDANIL EXPLORER

Top deck – KUDANIL EXPLORER

Bali is perhaps the island with the most established tourist industry but remains a quintessential Indonesian experience. Known as the ‘land of the gods’ Bali is a magical place where the ancient culture and Hindu religion is celebrated across the island’s reported thousand temples.

The Spice Islands are named after the abundance of nutmeg, mace and clove which were once exclusively found there and are now a paradise for diving and snorkelling.

Experiences in Indonesia

Whale Sharks, Manta Rays, cockatoos and even rare Pygmy Seahorses are all there to be discovered alongside lush mangroves, enchanting waterfalls and crystal-clear lagoons. As the sun sets on our Indonesian adventure, cocktail in hand, we’ll leave you with a few parting words from Nick about his time in Indonesia aboard the luxurious explorer yacht, KUDANIL EXPLORER.

“As Indonesia continues to open up to charter and an increasing number of guests are being drawn to its unspoilt natural beauty, welcoming inhabitants and intriguing culture, KUDANIL offers the advantage of a long experience of cruising every part of this archipelago, and expert local knowledge.”

Packing and Preparing for a Luxury Yacht Charter

Your dream yacht charter is on the horizon—sun-soaked decks, turquoise waters, and total relaxation await. As you tick off the days until departure, here are some tips to streamline your preparation for life at sea.

Welcome aboard | M/Y ROCK.IT | image from Yachting image

Pack Smart: Less is best

Space on a yacht is precious, so pack thoughtfully. Opt for soft-sided bags that fit easily in tight storage areas. Versatile clothing is key—light, breathable fabrics like linen and cotton for warm destinations, or layers if you’re heading somewhere cooler. Most of your time will be spent in swimwear, complemented by easy cover-ups for onshore outings. For evenings, aim for casual elegance: sundresses or linen trousers work well for alfresco dinners.

Footwear should be practical: non-marking deck shoes onboard, flip-flops for the beach, and comfortable sandals for exploring coastal towns. Some yachts enforce a barefoot policy, with slippers provided for onboard use.

Don’t forget accessories: a wide-brimmed hat or cap, UV-protective sunglasses (plus a backup pair), and a tote or waterproof bag for excursions. While yachts often supply basics like sunscreen, bring eco-friendly toiletries in travel sizes to protect marine life. If you’re prone to seasickness, pack remedies such as ginger candies, acupressure bands, or motion sickness tablets.

A good hat is essential | M/Y ROCK.IT | image from Yachting Image

Final Preparations: One Week Before

In the days leading up to your charter, confirm details with your broker, including itineraries, special requests, and dietary preferences. The yacht crew strives to meet your needs but sourcing last-minute items in remote locations can be challenging.

Check your travel logistics—flights, transfers, or marina directions—and ensure all documents, including passports and visas, are in order. Monitor the weather forecast to adjust your packing list as needed, such as adding a rain jacket or windbreaker.

Lightweight clothing is ideal | M/Y LADY JOY | image from Yachting Image

Life Onboard: Etiquette and Safety

Familiarize yourself with yacht etiquette to ensure a seamless experience. The crew’s priority is your safety and comfort, so listen to their instructions and treat them with respect. While the crew will go above and beyond, they are not babysitters, so plan activities for children accordingly.

Respect the yacht as the high-value vessel it is. Careless behaviour can lead to costly damage or compromise your experience. Illegal activities, including drug use or possession of firearms, are strictly prohibited and can end your charter immediately.

At the end of your trip, tipping the crew is customary. A gratuity of 5-15% of the charter fee is standard, and most crews accept wired tips if you’re not carrying cash.

Smooth Sailing Ahead

Preparation is key to an unforgettable yacht charter. Work with an experienced broker to guide you through the process, from booking to boarding. Whether exploring the Mediterranean, Caribbean, or New England coast, a little planning ensures your luxury escape is as effortless as the waves beneath you.
